"Now" has no meaning to the ego. The present merely reminds it of past hurts, and it reacts to the present as if it were the past. T-13.IV.5:1-3

“The ego cannot tolerate release from the past, and although the past is over, the ego tries to preserve its image by responding as if it were present.” (5:3)

Ego dictates that we should see each other through the eyes of our past, dragging emotional experiences into the present, completely ignoring the present moment.

The mind preserves the past by projecting an image of others as "shadowy figures", unconsciously drawn from a reserve of painful memories.

Those shadowy figures are not real and have no hold over us, if only we could forgive everyone including ourselves for any transgressions and simply let them go.

Unhealed psychological trauma triggers the mind to see others as our source of its despair.

Darkness from the past causes emotional blindness preventing the ability to see others as they truly are.

The past's persistent presence in the now-moment continues to instigate retaliatory attacks for something that no-longer exists.

Dragging it all forward into the future, sustaining our personal reality filled with illusions.

Every encounter is a Holy Encounter, an opportunity to be free of disharmony.

It is, however, impossible to recognize holiness in another unless we choose to accept holiness with ourselves by releasing the past's suffocating hold.

"Unless you learn that past pain is an illusion, you are choosing a future of illusions and losing the many opportunities you could find for release in the present." (6:5)

You have been told that your function in this world is healing, and your function in Heaven is creating.

The ego teaches that your function on earth is destruction, and you have no function at all in Heaven.

ACIM T-13.IV.1.3-4

Ego teaches that you, as a body are important and have a purpose in its world. Your role is to attack and destroy those who threaten this world; whereas, in Heaven you have no purpose and are essentially valueless.

Ego's intent is to annihilate your body, "bury you here, leaving you no inheritance except the dust out of which it thinks you were made".   (1:5-6)

As long as ego is content with your contribution in sustaining its world,  it may  grant you a state of total unawareness, or it could offer you hell.

However, it seems that neither of those are  nearly as objectionable as Heaven.

This reality's definition of Heaven is Hell and/or nothingness, projecting a very fearful experience, definitely an ominous threat to the ego entity.

The ego mind created the ideas of "hell and oblivion", and diligently attempts to prove their existence in order to establish the reality of this world.

Claiming that if hell and nothingness exists, then this ego reality would surely have to be real as well.

The intention is to keep the mind entangled within ego's beliefs, defending an existence of a world where aggression and discord rules.

 In a twisted mind,  the body's death is proof that it was right, that constant threats require the necessity of attacks.

At Home, your function is to create, in ego reality, your function is to heal your mind so you can remember the Self, as an extension of the Creator.

Is he the Christ? O yes, along with you. His little life on earth was not enough to teach the mighty lesson that he learned for all of you.

He will remain with you to lead you from the hell you made to God.

Manual for Teachers

Jesus came into this reality, the same way we all did, in a body separated from the true Self and everyone else.

This was divinely planned in order for him to understand, experience, and relate with the struggles of this illusionary reality.

 “Some bitter idols have been made” (distorted truths serving ego’s malevolent purposes) defiling the pure innocence of many travelling companions.

We must forgive all of their illusions and instead recognize their endearing and healing companionships bringing peace to the mind as we walk hand in hand toward the Creator.

The time spent in this world was too brief to fully teach what Jesus learned on behalf of us all.

Therefore, Jesus/Comforter/Holy Spirit remains always in our mind, waiting to lead us Home to God.

As we attune to his will, we share the eyes of Christ, walking with others united as One in perfect love, as created.

“Is he God’s only helper? No indeed.

For Christ takes many forms with different names until their oneness can be recognized. But Jesus is for you the bearer of Christ’s single message of the love of God. You need no other.” (5:1-5)

Precious Souls: Celebrate the Christ energy dwelling within us all. "Jesus became what all of us must be!"
